Game one of the day was the Tom Glavine showcase, as he struggled in the first inning loading bases and giving up a run but then continuing for five more innings to retire 14 batters in a row. His placement was impressive, and my only complaint would be that he didn’t push it through seven innings if our bullpen wasn’t performing so well lately, I mean really…when was the last time they gave up a run? *knock on wood*
Other nice news was Teixera seemed to come to the ballpark with a different kick in his step. Not sure which routine he changed, but no matter Teixera was able to go 3-3 with a run, a walk and an RBI. Clutch-hitting was impressive with the Braves today seeing Chipper, Teixera and McCann hit three consecutive two-out singles.
Johnson seems to be comfortable in his new hitting position, getting his 10th double on the season off of Maine….even though that was his only hit of the game.
6-1 is a good start in a series against the Mets, I’m just hoping we didn’t use it all up in the first half of the day….here’s waiting to see how part deux goes…

Don’t discredit Tommy; it was 17 in a row
And it’s great to see the bullpen extend their scoreless streak to 19 innings.
Now to get out of work and find someone to drag to the game since JB isn’t going….
Think we saved some offense for tonight?
Comment by Jonathan May 20, 2008 @ 5:23 pmNice win. Glavine is my hero again and Tex is starting to hit. Mac got 3 RBI’s today which I love. Looks like the cylinders are firing and yes, Ashley, the bullpen hasn’t allowed a run since….I’ll check the stats….a while.
Let’s win game two!
Comment by jbinatl May 20, 2008 @ 5:29 pmAH my bad, I got it off of Mark Bowman’s game summary.
Comment by Ashley May 20, 2008 @ 5:29 pmAnd I hope so, we’ve been a bit streaky this season, maybe this streak will be a full day one : ) haha
Yeah, I saw that after I said that in my last comment. I went back through the batter-by-batter though and it’s definitely 17.
Great win. Hopefully the same team shows up for game two.
Comment by Jonathan May 20, 2008 @ 5:32 pmSucks for Bowman. I’m always paranoid about print mistakes. You know though, you’d think he’d get it right….we don’t get paid to blog. Hah
Comment by Ashley May 20, 2008 @ 5:42 pmWe don’t get paid? CRAP! I’ve been waiting for my check for months now!
This sucks….
Comment by jbinatl May 20, 2008 @ 7:23 pmSure we do, that’s what ads are for
Though if I could get a regular paycheck for this instead of my regular job….I’d be all for it.
And don’t you worry….I’m a good error checker, aren’t I JB?
Game 2 time.
Comment by Jonathan May 20, 2008 @ 8:56 pmI definitely should have knocked on wood harder after questioning the last time the bullpen gave up runs *sigh*
Comment by Ashley May 20, 2008 @ 11:02 pmStill, 2 runs in 22 innings isn’t bad at all.
Comment by Jonathan May 20, 2008 @ 11:59 pmHuh huh, Beavis, she said “wood”
