Could youngsters infuse lagging pitching staff?

I’ll give it to Jurrjens, he’s talented. Hudson has shown he can lead the staff. For the rest I have few compliments however. Bennett can only last a handful of innings, while Chuck James is still struggling with placement having half his pitches end up belt-high down the middle. Hampton isn’t returning anytime soon, and if he were, I wouldn’t be placing many bets on him.

So the question becomes, who is ready in the minors, who could infuse the rest of the pitching staff?

Thomas Hanson is turning a lot of eyes after being promoted to AA over the weekend. Hanson has only a .90 era in seven starts with the Pelicans.

A bit further ahead in the system, Charlie Morton is 1-0 with a 1.76 era in six starts, only allowing one earned run in his last 14 1/3 innings.

Charlie Morton

So who should it be? Will the Braves continue moving Hanson? Or will he find more challenges in the AA level? Could placing Morton in the starting line-up bring back memories of Joey Devine’s initial appearances with the Braves? What do you think?

I believe the Braves staff knows when the timing is right, but do you think it’s time for new arms in the pitching roster?
